NACC to launch probe into criminal charges against Yingluck

While they are going after Yingluck, is there any chance we can see the perjury laws returning to pre-Yingluck standard? By that I mean the perjury laws should be reintroduced to stop people lying their asses off in court. The laws were scrapped when Yingluck was forced to tell a series of porkie pies in court.

Seems like lying in court is less likely to get you into trouble here than telling the truth in public.

Perjury laws do not apply at that level. Remember Clinton and Obama.

With all the apparent dysfunction, some things are working. One of the things is what the NACC is doing. They were created to oversee corruption. That's what they do. That's why they're called the National Anti-Corruption Commission. And to the horror of Pheu Thai, that's what they are actually doing. They have been investigating corruption in the largest fiscal scandal that has ever happened in this country. They are actually proceeding with it, and the levers of justice are actually moving forward constitutionally. With all that is not working - that is working.

In spite of them having their budget cut by the PT Govt as their first anti-corruption measure.

Regarding the probe on corruption charges in connection with a government to government rice deal against former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyaphirom and former deputy commerce minister Poom Saraphol, Mr Vicha said that the investigation process would take 3-4 months because some of the accused are abroad

So here we go again, they can not be charged for the crimes they committed because they have left the country. Where have they gone, Cambodia, China or Dubai?

She didn't have a dime transferred into her account. How can this be called corruption? Foreseeing substantial loss in the program is not good enough to convict her with the charges.

Well, firstly you have no idea if she financially received any money do you.

Secondly, you need to understand what corruption is. If you use your position to disadvantage your employer (in the this case the state and Thai people) in order to gain for yourself OR your family and friends,,, or even to cover up something for yourself, family or friends then it is corruption.

The key point here is that the decisions made were not for the good of the country or the people.

So, don't make assumptions that corruption is a simple matter of checking for deposits in her bank account, it's not.

What would those lies be? How would you know they are lies? You have personal experience with Yingluck and know for a fact they are lies?

Just want the truth here.

...OMG.....did you just fall off the turnip truck??? If you are in government in ANY country.....you are a liar.... Wakeup greenhorn.

No money would be transferred into her Thai accounts anyway. It would go into the offshore accounts via the Hong Kong loophole.

She is in charge of a scheme, which allows people to siphon off money by the millions. Even if she says she doesn't know about the siphoning, she's still in charge of the scheme, so she's liable. If Thaksin doesn't get back and pass the Amnesty Bill, Yingluck will have to move to Dubai. Maybe all the other Shins can move there too and be one happy, corrxxx family.

"...six additional witnesses would be allowed to testify."

Would these be the additional witnesses they denied could testify on behalf of Yingluck or are these additional witnesses for the prosecution. Just curious.

So it isn't good enough that Yingluck has been ousted by a judicial coup because the DPRC didn't like the election outcome, nooo... now the NACC has to turn the knife a few more times. Let's put the little lady in jail because she happens to be the brother of Thaksin.

Maybe she should be tried for more than one crime because she's been accused of committing more than one crime?

That's normally how it works.

Or should she only be tried for one crime and be let off the others?

Is that what your saying?

Little lady my arse. She took the job for one reason, and one reason only,to get Takkky and his money back. She failed in everything she did, because her corrupt brother was pulling the strings.Being PM has responcibilities, and now its time to face up,you do the bidding of a criminal and now its judgement day.I hope she hangs around to show she is a better person than her Pi chai.

its really funny to see a "democracy" like thailand have where the highest courts and even the nacc are working only in favour for the opposition of the yellows. means for the rich and super rich and the feudalism system. and more funny is to see the military forces are not under control and commander of the goverment. this is a real funny "democracy. but i doubt that the huge majority of the thais would keep quiet any longer. would be nice to see them cleaning up the country soon.

Welcome to the TVF, you have acquired instant Pro gov poster knowledge very quick ?? Did notice this last month we LOST one or two big names.

Study Chalerm and Jutaporn more if you love true democracy and this governments record over the last 3 years.

You want red rule and anarchy, ??? because all you guys are coming up with is BENT courts--Thaksins "politically motivated" dung.

All other critics of government are YELLOWS and SUTHEP lovers---sick sure.

Nothing "funny" about the police? No investigation into violence against PDRC. Is that not "funny" in your view?

You have a strong opinion about Thailand, even predicting violence but no mention about the red police force. The guys that enforce laws selectively.

You seem to have a problem with comprehension and expression.....you twist things around to suit your own desires and forget the facts. Like maybe I don't agree with a lot she does and says, but I think she is too attractive a woman to be any ones BROTHER

Suthep did it because he was beginning to need the cash, and of course, he just could not help himself.

Some cynics have questioned her parentage, but with her good looks I seriously doubt that she is Thaksin's brother.giggle.gif

After CAPO froze his assets, people started donating. Sort of backfired on CAPO, didn't it.

Yingluck should be leaving the country any day now.

She has a bit of time yet. After the investigation is completed there will be some toing and froing between the NACC and the attorney-general before the criminal case can start. She may chose to leave the country just before the sentencing or scarper before they can even call her to acknowledge the charges in court, after which the rest of the trial could be conducted in absentia. Avoiding the opening of the trial would enable her to stay abroad until the statute of limitations has lapse which I think is 10 years. On the other hand one of the necessary reforms is that the statute of limitations clock should be stopped in cases where the accused is out of the country.

Anyway now is probably a good time for her to start looking for houses abroad and a new school for Nong Pike, as well as applying for foreign passports.
