Is the Honda Wave 125X Ultimo available in Thailand?

Featured Replies

I see them advertised on a Malay web site but was wondering if they are exported to Thailand?

Gorgeous bike, nice tires/wheels/MPL/etc.. and it has some get up and go. The 3.7 Liter fuel tank is a nice feature as well.

Here's the specs:

Additional colors:

Metallic Red:

Pearl White:

I believe these are the 2010 models pictured above as well as the specs.

I'm not a big fan of the "Savory Orange" color, but it does stand out and improve visibility which is a plus.

I wonder if they were exported to Thailand and if any used ones are for sale and at what price?

Price for a new 125X in Malaysia costs about 5500 RM, which comes out to $1,700 USD or 55,900 BHT

This is for the model with the Upgraded wheels, Electric starter and I think Rear disc brakes.

http://tbsmotor.com.my/honda/honda-wave-ultimo-125-x.html#twoj_fragment1-5

A bit expensive as I won't ride it much as it would be mostly for running errands around town and such, so I'm wondering if they are available in the LOS and if there are any used models for sale and at a reasonable cost?

I would spend 32,000 BHT for a nice, used 2010 model with proper servicing. (After I touch down in the LOS and get settled.)

If anyone knows more about the Honda Wave12X Ultimo, please respond, especially if you are familiar with the 125x

Thanks.

I would say in essence the answer is yes but not in Orange only black and white.

Thanks for the reply.

Really nice looking bikes and good performance as well.

I'm going to try to find pricing on used models in Thailand to get an idea on what they sell for.

Really falling in love with this scooter and I believe a well-serviced used model will be in my future when I retire.

Must be a new release as I've never heard of the 125X Ultimo here, but a plethora of nice used bikes are available.

Bike Classifieds in Thai Visa, BahtSold and Craigslist Thailand would be a good start.

Or just buy yourself a spanking new one.

Surely less than $2000 out the door.

It will be as faithful as and last as long as a dog.

Enjoy. thumbsup.gif

[Thailand does not import Waves from Malaysia; Thai made only sold here].

A new Honda Wave 125i goes for about 50,000 kickstart, 54,000? electric start. Spoke wheels, front disk brake, rear drum. Available colors are black, white, blue, red. Lots of used available, check around on craigslist, Thaivisa etc...

I rarely see the 125's available in Thailand as far as used, and they all have the spoke wheels.

I see a lot of the 110's though.

Prefer the125 with the upgraded wheels, rear disc brakes and electric starter.

I won't be arriving in Thailand for a few more years, but these bikes seem to be far more common in Malaysia than in Thailand were the 110 are far more common.

Would also like to purchase a used model as well. I won't be riding enough to rationalize the purchase of a new model.

I've never bought a new car/motorcycle in my life as they lose too much value as soon as you drive them off of the lot.

Maybe they will be more ubiquitous in Thailand in a few years, or I can buy a used one and upgrade the spokes to the 5 star style wheels.

Every used "spoked" model I've seen for sale in Thailand has rusting spokes from the rain.

Not sure if the pics in my posts above are showing, but the Malaysian models look very sharp, especially without the spokes.

Semi auto scooters are more popular outside the cities on rural roads. Spoked wheels can be easily repairer that is why there are more ones seen with spoked wheels in the countryside.. That and of course they are cheaper.

Auto/CVT scooters are more popular in cities and small towns.

Right you are.

Wave 125s most always are fitted with spoked wheels which rust and require inner tubes which leak.

Finding used late model Wave 125 is challenging...people want to keep them.

Wave 125i is the 1st choice with motocy taxi guys for durability & economy, plus are a bit stronger than 110 so 3-up riding is better.

Aftermarket cast wheel up-grades are available @~5-6000Baht.

Sonic is about the only 125 with rear disk brakes, but functionally, drums seem to get the job done too.

In a few years new configurations will emerge and will be available for you to enjoy.

Upgrading the wheels will be easy, lots of small bike shops that sell mag rims.

I've never seen a Wave here with rear discs though.

Honda came out with a 'special' model Wave110i this year with e-start, and black mags instead of wire spokes.

Blue or red, w/black.

It looks real nice.

~B44K.

Betcha they will offer 125 with mags in the next year or two too.

Rear Drums would be OK, ( The Malay "RS" model comes with rear discs) but I would want Electric Start and the Sport Wheels, even if I have to have them swapped out.

And 125cc is mandatory.

Then all the girls will call me "Handsum Man" when I ride it! laugh.png

But seriously, I have a few more years to go before retirement, so I'm hoping the 125i is more common in Thailand by then.

Thanks to all for your input.

Help me out here.

I've been combing the internet, especially the Malay sites. and can't find a single Wave with rear disk brake.

Also looks like the Malaysian RS model refers to the 110i with e-start and cast wheels, just as in Thailand.

Please help me find the error of my ways.

The Waves 110i & 125i are already the best seeling bikes in Thailand, I'm told.

I think rear disks look cool, and are easier to monitor for wear.

About 8 years ago Suzuki made an underbone [best125 LTD] with cast wheels and rear disk, a la Raider.

I think I saw two advertised up for sale in Pattaya lately.

Click the "Our Price" tab.

Note that these might be 2010 models.

I was just browsing around the 'net for Honda 125 Waves and ran across these but couldn't find them in Thailand.

Apparantly they do exist as the Black/Gold trim and White/Black trim models appear to be on the market in Thailand, but not sure if they have rear discs and electric start.

http://www.aphonda.co.th/product/2014/wave125i/color.asp

But as mentioned, but the time I arrive in the LOS, I should be able to find what I want and I can rent something suitable until I buy.

And it appears that the "Ultimo" name plate is for Malay models and not Thai models and they go by the Wave 125i name in the LOS

BTW, anyone know how to calculate 200 meters in 4.16 seconds to KPH or MPH?

I saw that on a Malay web site and found it interesting that they would advertise performance using those figures.

Sir, Waves have drum brakes in the rear, ait?

According to this link, the Malay Wave 125 RS or whatever iteration of the Wave it is does appear to have rear disc brakes, unless those references are to the front brakes, but I doubt that would need to be said.

http://tbsmotor.com.my/honda/honda-wave-ultimo-125-x.html#twoj_fragment1-5

This is why I was wondering if the Thai model of the Wave125i came with rear discs.

Apologies if I didn't make myself clear.

The "New" Supra X 125 FI CW in Indonesia has a rear disc. But so far there is no evidence that either the Malaysian or Thai Wave 125i has .

OK, No problem. I imagine rear discs will be standard in a few years anyways or at least optional on just about everything 125cc and above.

Either way, it's not a deal breaker for me as the sport wheels are more important and I won't be arriving for a few more years anyways.

I just like to plan ahead. smile.png

200m/4.16 sec. is 173kph or 107mph iffen my math(s) is(are) okay.

Not bad for a 125cc.

No doubt they felt the need to say it because the cheapest Waves have front drum brakes.

Not bad for a 125cc, if that is still what is being discussed here.

Looks like they contradict themselves on the graph below...

ultimo-specs.jpg

It has to be 13.4 seconds, not 4.13 seconds. Saat = Time.

Most 125cc bikes top out at around 60 MPH or about 96 KPH

I must have assumed 200m meant meters when it clearly means a different measurement.

The language barrier is killing me on this thread...

200 meters would be about a 1/4 mile and 13.4 seconds would be a good 1/4 mile time for most cars.

Can't open most your links.

Yes 125s are peppy enough.

( The Malay "RS" model comes with rear discs)

What the Malaysians call a 125 RS, here in Thailand used to be sold as a Honda Sonic. Completely different bike, not a Wave and much quicker. As you will be looking for a used one it might suit you. Parts are still available.

Thanks for the info on the Sonic. After viewing some of the online ads, it looks like I will have no problems finding a scooter to my liking, even one with sport wheels.

I think it would also probably be best to buy from an Expat as they would be more likely to spend the money on maintenance than a cash-strapped Thai.

Also, the links I posted appear at times and don't appear at other times -- not sure why.

You are right bout the rarity of Wave rear disc brakes - although my 2006 Wave 125 (carb version) is one of the very few with a rear disc brake. It wasn't standard, the Japanese guy I bought the bike from had it fitted at delivery (as well as a nifty original Honda upswept exhaust). The rear disc set up cost him an extra 6000thb! He used the bike to tour Laos and Cambodia. I bought it 3 years ago and it has now done 28k trouble free kms. I would like to get some alloys one day - leaky tubes are a PITA. Interesting that my front tube doesn't leak (well, no more than 1 or 2 psi a month). It is a "Made in Japan" tube fitted by the original owner. A bad puncture caused the death of my rear tube, which was replaced by a - you guessed it - leaky Thai tube.

yes, old Honda wave x 125 models have rear disc brakes with red calipers as optional in high spec form. i think it is same with that ultimo model in Malasia

I have honda wave x 125 but drum rear brake version.

Best looking wave so far!

Yup.

I saw a red one, just as LL depicts, with mags, at a stoplight on Sukumvit yesterday.

Nice looking configuration, IMO.
