Yesterday's emergency health scenario at the airport.

PHUKET: -- Phuket International Airport, along with the Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, held an emergency response training exercise at the airport yesterday (June 9), to prepare authorities about how to react in a health emergency.

Many medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and representatives from Thalang Hospital, attended the exercise, to plan what to do if someone with a suspected contagious disease arrived at the airport.

The scenario yesterday was that Phuket International Airport had a report from another airport that there were four people on board a plane with suspected coronavirus, which causes mild to moderate upper-respiratory illness.

All of the “patients” had flu and coughed a lot, and were scattered through the airplane, which had around 200 people on board.

The officers had to devise a way to get them through Immigration individually, and then to get medical help.

Those involved in the exercise said it was a successful result.
