Mailing drugs lands Pole in jail

BANGKOK: -- A Polish man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly mailed

590 ecstasy pills worth Bt600,000 to an undercover police officer posing as a customer, police said yesterday.

Michal Pauli, 32, who had been monitored by anti-drugs authorities for months, was caught at the Mo Chit skytrain station after mailing the drugs to the undercover officer, Lt-General Watcharapol Prasanratchakit, commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, told reporters yesterday.

Pauli instructed the officer to rent a post box so he could receive the drugs, Watcharapol said.

The pills were concealed in CD boxes and covered with pepper spray, apparently to hide the smell, he said.
