They need an enemy to increase their power. Thats the Socialist way. Their entire political philosophy is dichotomous, Good vs evil, in their eyes, with murder as its goal. Now its Russia, prior it was Jews and Capitalists (and it still is). Notice how the Socialists dont harp about China? Hmmmmmmm.
