NickMay
I work in Iraq, but reside in the United States. We have paid and completed most everything on the K1 visa and all that is awaiting my Fiance is the interview. I am employed by an American company, based in America. Do I actually have to work on U.S. soil for her to be approved? I have heard many different answers on this, rnging from I have to be employed on U.S. soil to it doesn't matter where I'm employed as long as I have a U.S. based employer and I maintain a residence in America. What is the truth? Thank you for your help.
daboyz1
There may be a couple issues that arise at the interview. 1. Generally they require proof of domicile in the U.S. Do you have an address in the U.S.? 2. As long as you meet the requirements of the I-134 affidavit of support which is %125 of the poverty line, then you should be fine concerning that issue. Tax transcripts from the IRS are ususally the best way to prove income. You can obtain them for free here: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
