June 20, 201412 yr This is currently running in the World News and might be of interest to some of our members: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/736029-uganda-slammed-with-sanctions-over-anti-gay-laws/#entry7996814
June 20, 201412 yr Good stuff. Stop the aid. Losing money soon makes these donkeys sit up and take notice.
June 20, 201412 yr Author I sometimes get a little callous about stuff, but the picture of a gay person being burned alive is a reality check of epic proportions.
June 22, 201412 yr I applaud the US for this move. I cannot read some of the comments in the World News forum, it makes my blood boil.
June 22, 201412 yr I suggest Kerry ask Thaksin to use his inestimable influence in that country to change these laws. What revolting people they are. Let's hope the sanctions don't hurt the desperately poor too much.
June 22, 201412 yr Author Popular Post The desperately poor are always hurt, but it is the desperate gays that are hurt by these laws. It's also not only the gays that get targeted, it is often those who are perceived as being gay who receive mistreatment.
June 26, 201412 yr I just agree with the chorus of voices above ... From the News article that Scott highlighted ... "House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday's announcement "sends a stern signal to the Ugandan government: the United States will not tolerate the vile persecution of LGBT Ugandans." The legislation "represents breathtaking ignorance, injustice, and cruelty," Pelosi said in a statement." Well done the USA ...
June 27, 201412 yr Yep, really sad and devastating to read some of the comments in the world news post... these people have no idea about human rights / equality and a lot of other things... However, all those who praise the US... you should say "well done, current US democratic governement"... not sure the GOP and their Tea Party activists would have bothered to even think about doing something...
