Non O visa extension.

Featured Replies

I have a multiple entry non o visa and would like to apply for a year's extension at immigration. I don't quite have the 400k yet. My wife makes over 40k a month and I was wondering if she could provide the funds or does the money have to come from me?

I think I already know the answer but I want to make sure.

Replies would be very much appreciated.

The income needs to be yours and the money in the bank must be in a bank account in your name only. (But of course the wife could provide it).

You cannot use your wife's income to meet the 40k baht income requirement.

The 400k baht has to be in an account in your name only but is does not matter where the money came from.

I am not sure what type of visa you have. Non-O as a spouse visa or Non-O as retirement?

However, that 400,000 has to sit on the account at least 3months before you apply.

I apply for retirement visa for my husband, he is American. What we do is just get an affidavit of income from the embassy saying he is self employee and make not less than 60,000/month. It says salary or others which can consider by your pension or interest from the Bank.

Based on marriage the money neds to be in the bank for at least 2 months, not 3.

Only a few embassies require no rpoof of income to issue a statement, others do require proof.

For the cembassies that don't require proof, immirgaiton is aware of that and can ask for additional proof of income.

It doesn´t matter at all when applying for an extension of stay in Thailand. As long as it is a non immigrant O that is just fine..

I am not sure if I understand is right.

When I apply retirement visa for my husband, I have to submit the affidavit of income on the application day. The immigration give him 2months first then they will give us appointment to come back for a hearing. He gets his visa just fine without any other financial support but only affidavit of income.

I apply for his visa after we got married in August 2013. I think a week after that.

For a extension of stay based upon retirement there is no 2 month wait.

For an extension of stay based upon marriage there is a 30 day under consideration period that can start from the permit to stay date. In this case if the extension was applied for 30 days early there would be a 2 month wait.

Well, it quite a while so I may not remember it correctly. Just remember that they give him 60days at the first time. Perhaps they counted from the first day he arrived Thailand. Then we returned to immigration and he get a year visa.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys.

Does the 400k have to be in an account under my name only or could it be a joint account with mine and my wife's name on?

This is a visa based on marriage. I'm 30-years-old.

Your name only. If joint account then you need double the amount and maybe not allowed ?

I applied recently 12 days befor the permit to stay expired but was only given one calender month "under consideration" maybe differing criteria at immigration offices

It varies by region. I think perhaps it is only the region covered by Bangkok that does it from the date of application.

Up here in the north east (division 4 in Korat) it is from the date the permit to stay ends.

Can I use Thai property rental income as financial evidence? If so how? Just deposits in bank book?

Thanks

If it is rental income from your home country it can be included in the income you use to get an income letter from your embassy.

If for here you could not use it for income unless you had a work permit and paid taxes on it. It could though be used to build up your bank balance to get an extension.

Thanks ubonjoe,

I guess I will be taking a drive up to Savannakhet for another multi Non-O. Extension is going to be to complicated for me to do this year. I just hope Savannakhet keeps on issuing them.
