SVS online share dealing account for (UK) expats.

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've been searching for a UK-based online share dealing account, but many don't open accounts for non-residents. And I've even read posts on this forum of brokers closing accounts of non-residents living in Thailand.

Anyway, ...

I've just come across SVS's Online Individual Overseas Account for people who already have a UK bank account.

The charges seem reasonable: £5.75/trade, no inactivity or maintenance charges.

Does anybody have experience (good or bad) with this broker?

Any comments much appreciated.

Cheers

Cheers for the link.

Your link refers to a scam involving cold callers/emailers pretending to work for SVS, and using a mix of genuine details (name, website, address) and fake details (telephone numbers and email addresses).

Visit SVS's front webpage and you'll see a 'Important notice' warning about the scam.

No need to be put off SVS because of it. But it does remind us to be extra vigilant though.

After some online research I decided to open an account. But I have to send two notarized documents to SVS (because of the EU Money Laundering Directive) before I can start trading, which I guess is going to cost a few quid.
