Plane ticket -- for O-A visa

Featured Replies

Good day to all.

When applying for an O-A Temporary Residents visa ( 1 year ) at your local Thai Embassy, do you need to show proof of a RETURN plane ticket or will a ONE WAY plane ticket be acceptable ? How easy is it to purchase a return ticket for a return a year later ?

Your help is greatly appreciated

Ask the embassy that you are applying to if they require any proof of travel plans at all, including if they demand a trip out of Thailand. Seems unlikely for an O-A. Long ago I was required to show an air ticket out of Thailand within the 90 day stay (even though I planned to use it to apply for an annual retirement extension in Thailand) for a consulate issued single entry O visa so I just bought the cheapest possible throw away ticket and complied. Only your local embassy can tell you their specific requirements (or someone who has recently used them, etc. so WHICH embassy)?

Anyway ... also be clear with any kind of visa in your passport you are OK boarding a plane to Thailand with a one way ticket. Certainly an O-A visa qualifies.

Practically of course all you need is a one way ticket UNLESS you have specific plans to return somewhat soon.
