CHIANG MAI, July 1 - A fire broke out in Thailand's northern Chiang Mai province at a night venue near the Maejo University, Thailand's oldest agricultural university, causing damages of more than Bt10 million.

Meanwhile, in Bangkok, a community in the heart of the capital was ravaged by a blaze which leveled many homes.

More than 10 fire trucks were dispatched to the vicinity of 'Believe Pub' in Chiang Mai's San Sai district about 9am, to put out the fire.

Authorities believe the fire began in the pub's kitchen. One person, a pub employee, was injured as he was sleeping inside but ran out just in time to call for help.

After several hours, firefighters extinguished the blaze. An inspection team found the inerior of the pub was gutted with estimated damage believed to be around Bt10 million.

Officials said the pub has been closed since the curfew was applied and remained closed until now.

Meanwhile, police at Bangkok's Samre station received a report at 7.15am of a raging fire burning rental houses in Charoen Nakhon Soi 58.

Firefighters brought the blasea under control, but some 30 round 30 minutes, before the blaze became under control.

Five wooden houses built closely together were totally destroyed, while the fire spread to a 3-storey concrete house, damaging the building.

Preliminary inspection showed the blaze began a rented house used for repairing and making seat cushions.

There was no report of casualties, but an investigation is underway. (MCOT online news)

Closed since the curfew..thought the curfew was lifted? Sure smells like an insurance fraud here...

Business was bad and then hit by curfew so they closed and then pondered what to do so here's your answer rather thanre-opening...

And now claim 10M baht was lost. This one better be investigaed...

Just to mention, one more glaring error in the story,

"More than 10 fire trucks were dispatched to the vicinity of 'Believe Pub' in Chiang Mai's San Sai district about 9am",

so how come only 1 fire truck in my photo taken at 09:30am? Did the other fire trucks stop somewhere for breakfast and coffee on the way?
