Featured Replies

If I take a short day Mekong River trip, will I need any visa or re-entry permit so I don't lose my current retirement visa?

Can anyone share info on costs or types of trips available ? I was thing about starting from Nong Khai. Thank you

if your in Thailand, ur in Thailand,

There is a good trip from Chiang Khong ( in northern Thailand) down to Luang Prabang, Laos

slow boat 2 days overnight in a small town

1 day fast boat,

the trip is in Laos so u will need a re entry permit to keep your extension and also buy a Laos visa ( $35 US if your American)

You can than travel by bus or fly back to Thailand

There is a sunset trip from NKP. Its just down the river and back so you don't actually enter Laos so no visa, even tho all of the river actually belongs to Laos.

Thanks for the video...Looks like a nice short cruise, something I was considering. Thanks

This site has good info on a 2-day trip to Luang Prabang. If entering Laos you'll need a visa. You'll also need a re-entry permit. I'm planning to do this trip later this year.
