Buying (transferring) a car in another province?

Featured Replies

We're interested in buying a used car for sale on Chonburi. The car's plate have Songkhla on them. We are living in Bangkok (with a house rental contract here), my wife's Tabien Bahn is for Sisakhet.

So:

Car: Registered in Songkla.

Car is for sale in Chonburi through a used car company.

Wife's Tabien Bahn is for Sisaket.

We are renting in Bangkok.

How does she go about transfering the car to her name?

What does she need?

I presume that cars in Thailand can be transfered at ANY DoLT in the country? (where the seller, the car and the buyer are all from different provinces, and the seller is not present)

So if we have the documents (copied and signed ID card of the owner, and what else?... the blue book signed to sell?)

We can just go to a DoLT in Bangkok and transfer it to my wife's name, using her Tabien Bahn from Sisakhet?

Thanks.

Tell the Dealer to do it, then your a bit safer. If they whinge walk away. Dont part with cash till the Books in Your Hand.

Small private company. I made a very low offer over the phone. They sighed, paused, and said that if you can come tomorrow with the cash you can get it, but you will have to do all the transfership by yourself, a lot of people say they want to buy it for around that amount but don't come to buy it with the cash. So they would just be giving me the documents or whatever.

Can you or anybody else answer the questions in the OP?

Thanks.

Sounds like one for Kawasaki whose been around.i, personally it sounds a bit ify. Small or not, ask how much extra if they did it. There are many bargains out there. No Book, No Cash imo.thumbsup.gif
