Plan B Countries - Any Advice or Ideas ?
Simple, You don't transfer any monies to Thailand over and above your tax allowances and permitted deductibles. I think people will stop transferring money to buy condos, unless they can prove its savings prior to 2024. Then it's jumping through hoops to prove it, if you wish to be squeaky clean. I for one, won't be buying any cars if this is how it is all going to pan out, I change my car every three years, or I was doing. Then we have those that will start being in the country for no more than 179 days. This will happen, especially if it relates to sale of a major asset abroad, and the possibility of what you are saying above. To me, they've shot themselves in the foot if they pursue this, as it will stifle investment from foreigners wanting to retire here. They are not grasping it, that there are plenty more choices these days for wealthy retirees, or actually standard retirees. Europe, South America, and the obvious ones in SE Asia. Thailand just isn't THE BIG CHEESE ANY MORE. It's becoming expensive, the main draw used to be for many, cheap living, sun, sea, and sand and of course, the go go bars. -

Pickup Driver Dozes Off, Crashes Into Somtam Cart: 3 Seriously Injured
Three people were seriously injured when a pickup truck veered off the road and collided with a roadside somtam cart in Bang Phli District of Samut Prakan on the morning of November 26. The incident occurred at 10:30 on Wat Plad Priang Road, just 100 metres from the entrance of Soi Sridan 22, heading towards Bang Na-Trat Road. Police Captain Damrong Sutchusri of the Bang Kaeo Police Station, along with emergency responders from Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, rushed to the scene. At the site, a blue Toyota pickup truck with Bangkok license plate was found severely damaged. The driver, identified as Mr. Anan, 31, a resident of Bang Muang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan, was trapped in the driver’s seat with the left front of the vehicle crushed against the somtam cart. Mr. Anan suffered injuries, including chest trauma and was bleeding from his mouth and nose. Nearby, Ms. Sakawduen, 46, a somtam vendor from Loei Province, was found pinned to the front of the pickup truck. She sustained serious chest injuries and struggled to breathe. Emergency responders transported her to Prince Suvarnabhumi Hospital for treatment. Another victim, Ms. Chayapha, 46, a customer from Bang Kaeo Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, was also critically injured. She was struck and pinned against a tree after the pickup pushed the cart into her. She was rushed to Sikarin Hospital. Mr. Anan admitted to dozing off behind the wheel while driving to work in the Bang Na-Trat area, citing insufficient rest as the cause of his drowsiness. A witness, identified only as Ms. A, who was driving behind the pickup, reported that the truck initially veered into the oncoming lane before suddenly swerving back into its own lane and crashing into the somtam cart. The impact pushed the cart into a tree, leaving a trail of destruction. Authorities are investigating further to determine any additional factors contributing to the accident.
