Query on joint Condo purchase with Thai wife

Featured Replies

I want to buy a condo in joint names with my Thai wife.

There are valid reasons to do this for me and the merits of this is not what I am seeking clarification on.

What I am uncertain about is if I purchase in joint names are we still restricted to the Foreign quota of the complex or is the entire complex now available.

The condo will effectively be owned by a Thai (….and a Foreigner).

Questionable arguement but when a Thai company (as a separate legal entity) buys a condo it is not restricted to a quota even though a foreigner may have the dominant rights in the company

Do my wife and I as a partnership of sorts have the same ability ?

Bonus points does being a Thai wife matter at all…if one were to buy with Thai children..or Thai gf or Thai cousin.

Thanks all

My understanding is that if one of the owners is a foreigner then the condo is considered part of the foreign ownership quota which means it must adhere to all the rules stipulated for foreign ownership.

I'm not an expert and this information is based solely upon what I have read in this forum over the years.
