Hi Steve, yes I believe the rules are easier but the fee is the same (95,000 baht). However, I haven't really checked into it because I would rather have citizenship (dual) and a foreign woman isn't required to have PR before applying for citizenship.

The problem for me lies in the fact that a person applying for citizenship (I was told by the Bangkok Special Branch police who handle citizenship applications) must apply in the province the Thai spouse is registered in. We tried Surat Thani already but they didn't have any idea how to do it. I think I may write to the SB in BKK and ask them to mail me the application and all instructions so I can take it to Surat myself.

Island life, you know, makes your decision making process a little slow :o
