Back in May, I was suspended for a week, for being a troll.

That hurt, and in fact promised myself and the Moderator Linda, that I will never again post on TVF.

I didn’t keep my promise, for a long time, as I really enjoy posting and debating on TVF.

But that had an effect on me, from then on I think twice before I post a comment and also think of the consequences this post can have.

As it is the first time in my life to get involved in a Public Forum, never had the time before, I did some reading as to what a troll is.

According to Wikipedia:

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

I tried to identify myself with the above statement and I can confess that sometimes, I did post comments that could disturb the normal on-topic discussion.

I blame, my wrong sense of humour or ignorance, but never intended as to provoke other readers.

Now, going through, other postings I find that this is a common practice amongst members to tease each other or deviate from the on-topic discussion.

Of course if the comment is meant to be offensive to others, moderators take it out.

I would like to know, if other members do get offended by troll posts or just ignore them?

Have you ever posted comments, without realising it is actually a troll?

Also, before posting a comment, do you think or consider the effect it can have on other members?

And the last question, what’s the point in the middle of a thread start indicating that the poster is a troll and start displaying troll pictures?

Isn’t that trolling by itself?

Why don’t you leave it to the moderators to decide what is trolling and what is not?

I don't really know myself. I do suspect that ripping the skin of my newly waxed nut sack with a big bag of frozen peas might have something to do with it?????
