Hi,

I've read about tighter rules regarding back to back tourist visas.

Here's my situation :

I have a passport with 3 doubles entries, all with extension.

One double entry, then back to europe for 3 weeks, then 2 double entries "back to back".

I was supposed to get married this month but it didn't work out because of double nationality issues, and I need to restart the whole thing from scratch.

For this reason, I need to have at least 60-90 days, so, a single entry would be enough.

My plan is to leave around August 5th and come back before the 11th, but the question is where is it best to go ? Savannahket or Phnom penh ?

Savannakhet seems easier, but I heard you might be rejected at the border even with a valid visa ?

You should not have a problem getting a single entry. Savannakhet is doing visas the same day applied for. PP takes 4 days unless you pay an agent to handle it.

There have only been people turned back in the south and those that did get turned away had a history of visa exempt entries.

I have 3 back to back double entry 60 day tourist visas and each entry was extended by 30 days. I have been her since Arpil 2013 on tourist visas since losing my job.

I am due to activate the second entry on my 3rd tourist visa. Any problems or advice for this situation.

You should not have a problem but you should be prepared to show proof of 20k baht or the cash If asked for proof you are not working here.

OP, if you don't mind, could you say what the dual nationality issue was?

Thanks

Well I have a german passport but I married as a french.

French embassy said it was not a problem, thai ministry of foreign affairs also didn't make any problem, but at the amphoe they rejected it because they wanted to see a french passport...even if I could prove I have both nationalities, they didn't care.

That's why, now I have to start the whole procedure again, as a french, and with a french passport

Have you tried going to a different amphur (khet in Bangkok)? When I married my first wife, we were rejected by 3 different khets in Bangkok in the same day. With the same exact paperwork, we ended up at Bangrak at 3:00 pm the same day. They didn't even blink. We had no problems at all. It might just be easier to try a few different offices because their interpretation of the rules certainly does vary from one to the next!!

Yes, we've tried first in Bangrak at first...then couple of weeks later we've been to Phayathai, same issue.

I don't think trying a 3rd is going to help, that's why I prefer to do all the procedure from scratch...somehow I also think there might be problem later when I ask for a Non O Visa, maybe they will also make trouble if they see any double nationality.

For what reason have you been rejected ? Also double nationality ?

Being a dual national shouldn't be a problem unless one the the countries you are a citizen of prohibits it.

For Thailand, the concept isn't a problem.

Hope it works out for you.

Well I'm french-german, nothing really special I guess

Actually, the officer at our second try was at least trying to be helpful.

We spent like one hour and half trying to find a solution...and finally she told us, that if I was able to show her a paper proving that I am both french and german, then she would actually agree.

But this is easier said than done...I asked both french and german embassy, and none of them is able to issue such a paper, even if I give them both evidence of the other nationality.

Asked also if there is any UE institution that could issue this kind of paper, but to no avail.

I am a dual national too. Actually I have three citizenships. I would presume that the only problem that you would experience in this case is if you got married in France and you entered Thailand on a German passport, that's inconsistent and why the marriage office or amphoe or whoever handles this was confused or insisted on seeing your French passport with Thai entry stamps. Leave Thailand, come back on your French passport and all will be OK.
