Suthep gets 15 days to file legal defence for PDRC trespass case

BANGKOK: -- The Civil Court Monday allowed Suthep Thaugsuban to submit a defence statement within 15 days in response to a case filed by the Finance Ministry over the People's Democratic Reform Committee trespassing at the Finance Ministry during the anti-government protests earlier this year.

The ministry has demanded compensation of Bt536,986 for damage caused after thenPDRC chief Suthep - who is currently known as Phra Suthep - led protesters when they entered several of its premises.

It is also seeking Bt500,000 for every month the PDRC protested at the ministry and 7.5 per cent interest on that amount.

Petty cash for this man.....but of course, he probably won't really have to pay anything immediately......take the payments over 20 years.....

Clearly his defense for occupation is that he was safeguarding national security of the nation, bringing law and order, and was the rightfull leader of the nation by fiat. He even went so far as to demand that all government ministers report to him for further instructions when he occupied the Government House. Really, his occupation was no more legal than that of the military junta if one follows the 2006 Constitution. So why should he be singled out unless the Minstry will also file trespassing charges against the Junta. wai2.gif
