Kanchanaburi

Featured Replies

Around the 17th of Aug we will be heading from Bangkok up to Srinakarindra NP in Kanchanaburi for a few days of camping then before returning to Bangkok we would like to go up to Three Pagoda Pass on the Myanamar border.    Looking at the map is there a easy way to go from the park on route 3199 over to route 323?   That is without having to drive all the way back to the 3199/323 intersection.    Also any recommendations on places to stay (around B1000) things to do in that area along route 323?

Only ever been up to the Dam at the bottom of the lake but doubt if there is a way to cross over above that.

There is a road 3457 that cuts across between 3199 and 323.

Not a lot at  3P pass only a few markets.

Road is very up and down and winding, for a different experience leave your vehicle at Sankhlaburi and take the songtau up to the pass.

At Sankhlaburi, P Guest House do a good boat ride, elephant ride, rafting trip. They have a web site.

Hellfire pass is good if you have never been there also the viaduct on the railway.

If you are up there I would head up to Pilok for a day - fabulous road up the mountain. In the winter on a clear day you can see the Andaman sea!

3PP is a bit boring IMHO, as well, but Sangkhlaburi town is nice.

Remember to frequently get your car refueled on those main roads.

There are like a few self owned gas stations which I would not touch, who knows what's in the fuel. bah.gif
