I have been back in Bkk for two weeks from Canada where the weather was 28C during the day, and quite cool at night.

I was there a month and found my chronic pain vanished, i was able to start jogging again, and felt a vitality and energy that I have not had for as long as I can remember. Not a single massage ( I was having three/week in bkk), no long evening baths, resting better, and over all feeling that I better move back to Canada. Winter months might be a different story.

Two weeks back in Bkk and I am feeling the aches and pains creeping back, I'm indulging in massage again and wondering if this is just due to weather conditions?

In bkk the heat is constant and coming from the outside, the body then is continually trying to cool down from the inside, I would guess in an attempt to regulate the constant change in temperature. In Canada during the day was usually very warm and dry, but only in the sun, as soon as you step into the shade its cool, and at night I would say it was cold. So the body is doing just the opposite of Thai, trying to generate heat from the inside, I generally felt much more stable, and am just wondering about the reasons for that if there are others who might have similar experience.

My chronic pain seems mainly due to disc problems, C3, C6, (sponylosis), L5 (disc herniation).

The jogging is the most amazing thing for me, I never thought I would jog again, I had virtually no pain while jogging daily in Canada. Now back in Bkk, I can feel it coming back, legs are seizing up, back to massage...

When I first had massage after returning from Canada, I found it hurt, same guy using the same kind of pressure, my energy lines (I dont know how else to describe this) felt 'full', like thet were working properly, and I actually had to tell my massage guy to do less! Less in each area, but I find I am going back to stronger now, and wondering whats going on here?

Thanks

It might have something to do with the humidity where you were in Canada..... in dryer / less humid areas people tend to get less aches.... i.e Prairies or interior of BC.

BKK would be similar to southern Ontario in the summer hot and muggy...bah.gif

Cold and wet is usually very bad for joint pain.
Hot and dry is the best.

I'm thinking your pain is being caused by bad massage, which will do more harm than good.
Massage is often not all that good for joint pain. But good for muscle pain.

I can't even go for massages anymore.  The vast majority of the time I walk out worse then when I went in.

Could there be changes in diet and drinking habits to explain the differences in pain?

For me it seems if I change the climate...no matter what change the joints hurt less.

Beside the knees.....they suffer from the long flight but that isn't weather related.
