Bangkok-Arau by train

Featured Replies

Hi

Im planning a trip to Langkawi but Im confused about the Arau exit for Langkawi. The station doesn't appear on the timetable but is mentioned in most travel blogs as the best place to exit

Does it not stop there anymore? Doesn't stop at Alor Setar either by the looks

you have to consult the Malay times on ktmb.com.my, and I think the name of the actual station is also different.

Its served by 2 trains: the overnight '''express'' BKK-BTW, of just 2 2nd cl. sleep-cars and the overnight KTMB HYai-KUL, also very short from Hyai, many mor cars added from border stop.

Alternative route to Langk via TH is via Satul and the ferry from there/port. Buses and vans HYai-Satul run ev 30 mins, also via longer but more scenic ride from trang.

IN the current Malay school hols -till end of aug, Langk is overrun with orang2 turis domestik.
