BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok South Criminal Court has granted temporary release on bails for the Army staff officer and four accomplices involving in the Patpong extortion case.

Maj Gen Jennarong Dechawan, alias Seh James, an officer attached to the office of the permanent

secretary for defence, and four other civilian accomplices – Nongnuch Sithirat, Panthong Siriwan, Chanthima Chotkittikasem and Surat Phumphuan – faced three charges.

They are extortion, illegally acting as middlemen demanding or accepting bribes, and money laundering, were imposed on them.

The Crime Suppression Division police sought the extension of 12 more days for all the five suspects for further investigation. The court agreed.

Later the lawyer of the 55-year-old Army officer and four accomplices posted 1.25 million baht in cash and land title deeds as bail and were later agreed by the court.

Why is he still wearing his uniform & that stupid smile?

T.I.T. He will walk!

"Army staff officer..."

"...the 55-year-old Army officer..."

His rank has been sanitized greatly... wai2.gif

Not too long he will be promoted, as per thai military tradition. That's for not saying with whom he was sharing this money

He is hounoring his uniform, the same uniform which will make Thailand a good country.

Since the original story of his arrest there have been many reports of vendors stating that he was actually cleaning things up in Patpong and that his arrest was a frame job set up by the "Mafias" that were causing the problem.

Seems to be a rush to judgement by some here.

Ha,ha,ha, no problem

regards worgeordie

I wonder how soon the witness pool will dry up? I is harmful to one's health to testify against mafia and General officer mafia in particular.

and i used to think the army was completely clean...whistling.gif

its with this kind of news, that you realize this country is completely fwcked

Why is he still wearing his uniform & that stupid smile?

I suppose he was arrested wearing the uniform, and the smile is that of someone conscious he is in the limelight and needs to look confidant. A contrived smile.

You need to read the reports better and to read between the lines,

He muscled in on the mafia, yes, but not altruistically. He was taking his cut.

What is happening here on the photograph is pure intimidation to his victims.

And that is exactly what makes ordinairy Thai's so weary and paranoid.

Lawlessness and the 'kill the messengers' attitude.

How do one feels when reporting this man to the authorities, only to find out that in fact HE IS authority.?

Would you or somebody else dare to report in future?

Racketeering in full.

Prosecution Witnesses,  what prosecution witnesses ?

So now they are free to go after those who had the temerity to report them for their extortion.

What a joke the court has just made of this.

No joke for the vendors who reported him and set him up.

What it amounts to is if you report extortion or corruption in high places the army will come and make arrests then the police will reluctantly charge the offenders, the courts will give them bail and then they will be free to go after the ones who reported them, under the watchful blind eye of the police.

Message : Reporting extortion or corruption will be extremely injurious to the health.

Back to the drawing board General P.

He is happy because he is off to see Expendables 3. w00t.gif

The right to Bail is a commonplace in English law and an old tradition.

In theory, at least, it allows an accused, but not yet proven guilty,  person to prepare his or her legal defense case before they go to trial.

The right to bail is one of the cornerstones of English law, and the right to ask for bail goes a long way back in English law.

It prevents an arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, as was the case before bail was allowed.

I believe, though I may be wrong, it is one of the rights cited in the Magna Carta.

Why is he still wearing his uniform & that stupid smile?

because now he can '"talk'" to the vendors and make sure they tell the truth.......as he see's it.

Ahhh return thai to happiness is really working these guys look really Happy

Well Done General

No kidding. Just like all the experts who rushed to condemn Chalerm's son in the murder case and it turned out that there were all those reports stating he was trying to help the guy and prevent him getting shot. Good thing witnesses are so dependable, otherwise there would be so many tragic cases of innocent people being condemned.
