snorkster
Is anyone else experiencing a lot of oddness with international connectivity today? I see one threat specifically about CAT 3g. I have TRUE and TOT dsl lines, and also a wireless DTAC device, all three are having very similar issues. Intermittently not being able to connect anywhere, sometimes being able to connect only to specific websites such as google.com (perhaps served locally here in thailand despite .com?), DNS lookup failures, etc. Happening on all my computers across all 3 internet lines. Are there just gremlins in my stuff today or is there some systematic problem with thai international internet connectivity today? TRUE is currently reporting all systems fine, but my TRUE line can not connect to the sites I need to for work, mysteriously, but lets me connect to other sites like this one. O_o? sgtsabai
3bb up in Udon sucks yesterday evening and today. Slower than molasses on a 0 F. degree day. I just gave up trying to download and email doesn't want to open, or takes forever. I am hard wired with wi-fi running off main desktop to other computers. Thought at first it was the new hard wire/wi-fi router that replaced the one that died. Took 3 days just to get service here and a return same day when the password wasn't entered correctly at the office. When the "technician" finally finished he put me on phone to boss that explained they were having many problems all over the area and indeed, the internet had gone down completely for a couple of hours. Hard to believe all ISP's are doing maintenance at the same time. At one point last night I got a blue screen and had to re-boot. New router? A minor inconvenience except for those that read my misspelling, the spell check for posts like this has disappeared from my computer.

draftvader
Jumping on in here. Yep, seen this. Today I have been trying to use my VoIP service and had been getting many complaints from my UK contacts about call quality. I started to troubleshoot with my provider and we isolated the issue down to the international routing from Thailand. I have run tracerts (using Axence NetTools) and I note that this particular request is being routed via Singapore where it is suffering packet loss at the SingTel nodes. Other sites/IP in the UK are routing more directly and are working fine. This could explain the issue of some sites working and others not. My reaction to this was to switch on my VPN (simple one, tunnelbear) which is having problems connecting too. As I have been typing I have just spoken with a 3BB technician (another issue requiring an engineer visit...if only to stop them reducing my service periodically I call the technician EVERY TIME it happens) who didn't have a clue what I was speaking about (I have always said that the TRUE call centre matched with the 3BB onsite engineers would be a dream ISP). I have drowned him in tracert results, packet loss, ping rates, etc and he baulked. The end of it was that I told him to pass a message onto their international connection team to check the routing via SingTel. So, that is my discovery. Doesn't change the issue at all. 3BB - Pak Kret (about 2km from Jasmine Tower!!) For anybody that cares the IP address that has a 60% packet loss over 5 minutes is 203.208.172.66 - SingTel
