SARABURI, 7 August 2014 (NNT)- Office of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission and Forest Protection and Fire Control officials yesterday inspected pieces of public land allegedly encroached on and sold by private investors in Saraburi Province.

Led by Preeyachit, the Secretary-General of the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission, and Mangkon Mieanmit, the Director of the Saraburi Forest Protection and Fire Control Division, officials inspected 18 vacation homes and other buildings, valued at over 100 million baht, in Muak Lek District, Saraburi Province, which have allegedly been built in a national forest.

Mangkon revealed that the 18 structures are most certainly located in a national forest, although some of the property borders land with agricultural use permits. According to him, most of the land in the area is part of the national forests. He added that private investors have encroached on the land and are selling it at 1 to 1.5 million baht per rai.

Prayong said that, if state officials were found to have been involved in encroachment on national forests, they would definitely face tough legal action. He urged officials to avoid cronyism and to strictly comply with the law.

WTF, private investors selling public land in collusion with local administrators! Only in Thailand, anything can be bought. I sure hope the army gives it to them!

<deleted>, private investors selling public land in collusion with local administrators! Only in Thailand, anything can be bought. I sure hope the army gives it to them!

I also hope the current leader reclaims some very expensive land illegally bought (although legally, after a quick change to a neat little law??) near Ratchadapisek Rd., and is currently owned by an ex-wife of a very famous Thai man. That land should be taken back, for many various reasons.

Sara-buri, now who is involved there? Or is it a a son, or a nephew or .......

Bet that family does not get a look in the follow up news.

Looks like more thieves abound.

Family?               Not referring  to Suphanburi by any chance?

Many of these heading miss the main point.

LOCAL LAND OFFICE, where anyone who buys etc has to go to sign for the deeds, exchange moneys.     WHO is giving out the right to build ?? Who is giving the right to supply water/electric ??  Local village are aware---local police are aware  You have to go to the land office and quietly pick up the persons who have granted the  wrong and jail them.  These people do not allow for love, they do it for money the same as  (excuse the example-a bar girl).

Look at what happens locally--another example, buying a condo, 1 million baht in Pattaya, go to the land office agree on a false sale figure with the seller and the land office, pay the tax on that figure, swap the paper for the 1 million baht deal done.  ( the amount  paid at the land office may be 550,000 taxable)  the remainder or the correct agreed price is paid downstairs between the buyer and seller.

The land office is the place that has to be investigated more or the same as the corrupt seller or buyer.
