How Long Should My Gf Stay?

Featured Replies

Hi

Just a quick one!

Im applying for a tourist visa for my Thai gf to come to London in August. I want her to come and stay the maximum 6 months but from reading some postings on this forum I can see many people suggest 3-4 weeks. Can some of you guys advise me if you think this is the best way to get the visa by her coming for this period and if possible please explain why?

Also, if she came for a month how long would it be before she could come back to England to visit, from what I've read and can decipher it would be 6 months which is a long time.

Any replies are much appreciated.

Thanks

Steven.

Really i think you've had all your answers in your previous post of earlier this week. You will, in my opinion, be lucky if you get the visa at all, so i wouldn't worry too much about when she can return.

Basically you are asking for a visitor visa. Its common sense that an ECO will be more likely to accept a holiday is for 3 weeks , say, than if you are asking for 6 months. Its obvious.

If you do get the visa there is nothing stopping her applying again immediately but you must understand that they will almost certainly refuse if you do as its not believable that someone who has just gone to the UK for a holiday, knowing she has a UK boyfriend too, is asking to go again so quickly. They will suspect what is the truth which is that you are intending to live together and thus the true reason is not to visit.

Just my opinion , there are plenty here who will tell you that its all a piece of cake. That you'll have no problems.

Just wait and see.

Let us know how you get on as feedback is always useful

As I said to you previously, be realistic in the length of the visit. If you are saying that she will return because of her family and the farm, the ECO will want to know why she can be away for 6 months!

The minimum term for a visit visa is 6 months, and they are usually multi entry, which means she can enter and leave the UK as often as she wishes during the life of the visa.

However, in your circumstances I think that it is likely that the ECO will restrict her visa to a single entry.

I also think it is likely that she will be asked to sign an undertaking to return within a set time period. Breaking this undertaking would not be illegal, but it would make any future applications difficult.

There is no hard and fast rule on how many visits a visa national can make and how often. However, it is unlikely that she would get another visit visa if it means spending more than 6 months out of 12 in the UK. A visit visa is simply that, a visa for a visit. If she wants a lengthy stay in the UK then she should apply for the appropriate visa.

How long should my GF stay...?

Once she has made me breakfast she can leave it by my bedside.

Without waking me up, thank you very much.

That´s about long enough for me.... :o
