I gave up on that office after tree trips with answers like "a farang can not get a drivers license in Thailand". I ended up with getting it in Pattaya. Then i went to Sa kaeo to renew and they insisted it had to be fake, and back to Pattaya to renew. Last renewal i went strait to Pattaya.

i don't think it is a language thing, i speak Thai and that didn't make any difference.

I got both my bike and car licence from SaKeao no problems and have had them renewed. Went to Aranyaprathet immigration to get my papers from there and went in to SaKeao driving school at 8am the following morning was out by 10am with my renewed licence same process as Pattaya.

^ I renewed car and motorcycle without issue in Sa Kaeo (had been issued Phuket); first i went there to confirm what was required as we were in town that day.

Later, a trip - a few kms involved from where we were living, 180km return to Aranyaprathet for residency letter from Immigration, got the medical report at Aran as well, then to SK transport office and saw same person who had given me info previously; no problems I was out in less than 30 min with two new licences.

Lucky with timing, just as we were leaving a large group came in who had just passed their motorcycle practical tests - all queuing to hand in their papers for new licences.
