The Krungsri Mee tai Dai savings account is an

excellent account,the interest rate is I believe

2.35% at present...and if interest in any one account is kept below 20000PA, then there is no tax to pay.

Amazingly,you can open as many accounts as you like.

Depending on your circumstances you could get a much better rate than 1% onshore. Even offshore for that matter.

The OP is non resident - onshore is nearly impossible to open. Can't find any offshore that are 'much better'.

It isn't impossible at all; it just requires some effort. I have many onshore accounts yet haven't been resident in the UK for nearly 40 years.

Offshore 1.45% is possible (Nationwide) and I would say that a 45% increase is "much better". Historically still a very low rate, admittedly.
