Telecoms giant picks PGTV as partner

BANGKOK: -- Phuket’s own English-language TV service, PGTV, has been chosen by Thai telecoms giant TT&T as a provider for its new MaxnetTV.net website.

Maxnet carries real-time programs from TV stations and local cable TV for broadband Internet users.

Prachuab Tantinon, President of TT&T plc, explained at the recent soft launch, “MaxnetTV.net is home to a variety of multimedia content to match the needs and interests of broadband Internet users on TT&T’s and other operators’ networks, anytime, anywhere and covering a wide range of lifestyles.”

He added that Maxnet would also provide a channel for independent TV and movie producers to publicize their work.

Apart from PGTV, Maxnet provides live access to Thai terrestrial channels 5, 7, 9, 11 and iTV along with cable and satellite networks such as NBT Channel’s Newsline and Sportsline, and Joy TV; and local TV programming from We-TV and KPP Cable TV.

All programs are aired in the full version at no cost to the viewer.

In addition, MaxnetTV carries updates and clips of new movies, songs, music videos, karaoke tracks and links to Internet radio stations, information on events, and a lifestyle section covering health and beauty, cookery, home decoration and gardening, tourism and shopping.

During the introductory period, users will also have free access to movies, TV programs from the archives, music in playlist format and karaoke and music videos.

Dear George,

I have just watched the latest phuket news concerning theft of coral fish!! My ISP is TT&T in Trat and the full-screen picture is reasonable but not TV quality.

Most of the site was in Thai. Is it the intention for this to be offered as pay-internet TV? I looked at registration and it was in Thai. There was supposedly archived material but I could not access it.

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best
