BANGKOK, Aug 22 -- Four state-run hospitals in Bangkok were assigned today to provide treatment to Ebola patients as well as those suspected of carrying the deadly virus, officials said.

An agreement allowing the four hospitals including the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, Rajavithi Hospital and the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health to provide full treatment to Ebola patients followed a meeting earlier in the day, officials said.

The meeting was attended by senior Public Health Ministry officials, doctors, nurses and scientists.

In upcountry, both state and private-run hospitals would be responsible in providing treatment to Ebola patients while the Ministry officials would transfer knowledge to medical staff at provincial hospitals, officials said.

In another development, a 48-year-old woman suspected of contracting the disease after returning from a visit to Liberia was found to have her condition improve while it is also found scientifically that her condition is ‘negative.’

Officials said doctors are still closely monitoring 13 others suspected of contracting the disease.

To date, the UN World Health Organisation has reported that Ebola patients are still mainly found in three countries--Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. It said cumulative number of patients totaled 2,473 while 1,145 persons have died. (MCOT online news)

I doubt any upcountry government or private hospital has any facilities for treating Ebola victims.

The photo says it all. The doctors and directors do not look happy with the decision of authorities in choosing their hospitals. Like receiving a death sentence.
