I came to Thailand end June with a single entry O visa that will expire on September 20.

I would like to apply for a 1-year extension (marriage):

1. When should I apply ? Will they give me some kind of extension while waiting for the approval so that I don't have to leave the country on Sept.20 (I guess that would void the visa and the extension process) ?

2. They (Bangkok) required a "...letter of certification issued by the Embassy attesting that a person had not registered his marriage prior to marriage...". What is that ? I'll ask my embassy tomorrow about that, anyway.

When you apply for the extension you will be given an under consideration stamp with a report back date 30 days from when you apply or from the date you permit to stay ends dependent on where you apply.

What they want is a copy of the affirmation of permit to marry you got from the embassy when you registered your marriage.
