BANGKOK: -- The builder of the Pathum Thani’s condominium building which collapsed in the middle of this month and killed at least ten workers surrendered to the police to face charge of manslaughter.

Mr Chanaichon Kerdthes, managing director of Plook Plang construction company responsible for building U-Place Condotel condominium in Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani, turned himself in to Pol Lt-Col Prayote Chotichai, an enquiry officer of Klong Ha police station, in the company of his lawyer, Mr Chalermchai Laisakul.

The lawyer explained that Mr Chanaichon did not surrender to the police sooner because he was busy with checking all the related documents with his clients. He said that Mr Chanaichon was not ready to talk to the media yet because he was still stressed with the accident.

Mr Chanaichon gave his statement to the police enquiry officer and later posted 100,000 baht surety to ask for bail.

The lawyer said that the construction company would compensate for the dead and the injured from the building collapse.

In other words, he’s been manufacturing new documentary evidence to try and convince authorities he had a safety plan; when originally he didn’t really have one in the first place.

Safety was obviously last on that site; not first.

"The lawyer said that the construction company would compensate for the dead and the injured from the building collapse."

All his clients could find him but the police couldn't.

Often times, clients can be reached by an intermediary, by phone or electronically. Often times, those accused of crimes don't make their whereabouts known to those looking for them.

This is from experience, and not from rhe meager details of a news article.

The country doesn't sicken me. Just some of the cruel and heartless people that live here, be they Thai or foreigner.
