How can you find the actual owner of the apartment you rent?

I have been renting this place I am in for 5 years, I don´t really want to move, but...

The problem I am having constantly is nothing gets repaired, until the rent is due (which I pay every 6 months), and I withhold it until everything is fixed. I have been paying a man (who obviously gets a commission) who acts as an agent since I moved in.

I just paid the rent, after going through the usual drama to get things fixed, and now (because there was a problem with the water) the hot water in my en-suite doesn´t work, probably because it is full of dirt. I made them put filters on the water, but it obviously didn´t happen quick enough. Water in trickle out.

I need to find the owner and approach him and let him know what is going on, and either move out next time the rent is due or buy the place and fix it all myself.

I live in an estate in Phuket off Khoktanod Road.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

Thanks in advance.

I have never met the owner of my condo. Everything is delegated to a management company. It is their responsibility to repair things. Be aware of the provisions in the rental contract though.

That is the other problem, how do you know what is in the contract, it is all in Thai? Also I believe a contract in English (without certified translations) is next to impossible to enforce.

I am just hoping that with a decent interpreter I can reason with the owner and come to some sort of amicable arrangement.

Novel approach to buy the thing.......WOW!

Yeah I know, but I am happy where I am and HATE moving!! But they will want some stupid money for it and I know I would have to spend a million Baht on it to fix the place. The only thing I may have on my side is 70% of the places in the estate are and have been empty for the time I have been here. But you know Thai logic.....

Make a trip to the land dept and ask to see the Chanote, which they can find by the address. Every chanote must have a name on it, be that a company, another 'juristic' person or a private individual. If you need help let us know, we do this all the time, mostly for condominium owners.
