I am looking for a good, experienced, no BS shop in Chiang Mai to possibly rebuild my engine. Specifically the main Crankshaft (ground and balanced) and bearings. This would be on an '82 HONDA GL400 bike.

As for general maintenance, I typically do my own as I have a deep distrust of most Thai mechanics. If they don't have a functional torque wrench in the shop, I move on.

Suggestions and personal experience statements appreciated.

You could check in with Chiangmai bike shop. Khun Pipat (0816414496, has excellent English as well) has done great work for me and has been honest when something needs to be done but he doesn't know about/want to do.
