Traveling outside of Thailand for holder of a Non Immigrant 'O' visa

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am a Belgian citizen who have lived in Thailand (Bangkok) since 3 years. I have recently (re-applied) for a Non Immigrant 'O' visa which is valid for 90 days (until Nov. 11th, 2014). I was wondering what to do if I would like to travel before the expiration date of that visa? Do I need to apply for a re-entry visa before going out of Thailand? or does this Non Immigrant 'O' visa will be not valid anymore and I have to re-apply for a new one again?

I am planning to travel around the end of September 2014.

In case, I would like to apply for an extension (Multiple entry for 1 year), where and how do I proceed? Is there such a visa and what are the differences from a Non Immigrant 'ED' visa valid for 90 days with 3 extensions of 90 days each time?

Thank you

Looking fwd for your reply

You can get a single re-entry permit for the 90 day entry you got from the visa.

On what basis could you apply for the one year extension of stay?

Are you 50 or over and can qualify for one based upon retirement?

Married to a Thai or have a Thai child?

If you get a one year extension of stay you could get a multiple re-entry permit.

Thank you for the reply. I have a Thai child living in Samui. Do I need to show a bank statement with a min. of 400,000 baht? Where and how can I apply without a visa lawyer? And in case I use a visa lawyer, what would be the approx. costs?

How do I apply for a one year extension of stay?

Thanks !

In order to get an extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai you must be the legal father of your child by way of marriage or legitimization. See How To Gain Parental Rights As A Father

You need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 60 days or proof of 40k baht income to apply for the extension.

You can get a 60 day extension of stay to visit your child with just your name on the birth certificate.
