It was at Clarkes Beach. Surfed there many times. Great long board ride.

'English expat Paul Wilcox, 50, had only recently arrived to live in the beachside community with his wife Victoria.

The couple, married for more than 24 years, were originally from Warwickshire in England and had moved first to Sydney about 10 years ago and then to Byron Bay.' http://www.smh.com.au/national/man-killed-by-shark-in-byron-bay-named-as-english-expat-paul-wilcox-20140909-10ek6s.html

Very sad for the gentleman and his family.

The last attack in Byron was in 1993, again a great white. A guy on a scuba tour, if memory serves me.
