Restart Linux meetings in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hello all Linux people in Thailand.

Anybody interested to start the monthly meetings again? Have a look at the archives at http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/409242-ubuntu-it-meeting/

Still on this board: Urandom, Colin Chapman, Dharmabam, Crushdepth, DevDrinker, BugJackBaron, Flash77, Pacopeco, William, Kenny, Pinair, Justsomehelp, Kmdkk

Lets see if people are still interested so we can start again, last time we used "Soi 8 Bar", Sukhumvit Soi 8 Bangkok - meeting starts about 07:00pm till ..

New people are welcome as well!

Cheers,

Cloggie

  • Don't worry, I'm commited to lose 10 kg before the end of the year (I'm already half way) so definitively no beer for me either ;-)

  • I can be available on a Saturday lunch time in Bangkok. However, I am busy most Saturdays and Sundays, So I could manage maybe 1 time a month on Saturday lunch time. I would be great if we could star

Thanks for your reply - as soon as we have enough people I will post it. Last time we did the meetings on a Thursday but it all depends on when people are available.

I am interested but a bit of a haul from Phuket to Soi 8. Have another penguin lover here but he lives on a boat at the north end of the island. Pity.

Which days? maybe I can join in December and January.

Hey guys,

I would like to come as well. I live in Bangkok, and is not too far away from Sukhumvit.

I would like to suggest Thursdays. That is just my preference, but most other days are open for me as well.

Could be interested if was Pattaya way, rarely make it to Bangers.

As I live in Pattaya, maybe start a Linux Group here as well, two persons is the minimum to start a meeting....

clap2.gif nice Cloggie !

same as always 1st. Thu ? Soi 8 was great ...

As the response is very low to start the Linux meetings again, the idea will go into hibernation. xsorry.gif.pagespeed.ic.HIAcli9fRM.png

Too bad that the response is too low. As I understand Cloggie is from Pattaya, and I can see that it takes a certain amount of people before it is worth setting up.

Is there anyone in the Bangkok area that would like to meet anyway, and does not live so far away, that it becomes a hazzle to attend?

If there is one or two, I will also come.

@OxfordWill

Great!

There seems to be a tradition for Thursdays. What is your preference? I have time most evenings, and I guess that the meeting should be somewhere in October. Maybe the first part of that month.

Ill be outside of Thailand for the second half of october, but otherwise Im available most nights. Thursdays are fine for me, as is soi 8.

I'm also interested to get back into the Linux meetings. Thursdays in soi 8 or anywhere near BTS are generally ok for me.

@flash77 and @OxfordWill

That is great.

How about Thursday 9th October 19.00 in Soi 8?

/martin

I think I can make that. @Cloggie, can you drag your ass up here that night?

FYI, @urandom went back to France almost 2 years ago (you still listening frenchie?), and Soi8 bar has a different name now, but still the same ownership and atmosphere. I will try to find out the new name for those who never came to the old group, but it isn't hard to find... First nice bar on the left.

@JohnnyJazz, you in?

Unfortunately I will be on holiday during that time so I can't join you but would love to see a report about the meeting.

Will buy you beer :-)

FYI, the pub is now called the kiwi bar

Following an accident in the family I would not able to join today. I wish you a good meeting and look forward to join you for the next one.

JJ

i'm kind of on the fence about coming into town tonight, particularly as JJ has now cancelled. are the other 2 of you still committed? what about you @oxfordwill? you never said if you could make it. what is the plan and what is the timeframe?

If Martin, airpinn or someone else confirms they are still attending, then count me in. Given its about 1.5 hrs for me to get there, if I don't see another response here by 5pm then I will probably not attend.

ok, i'll head in... probably closer to 8 though
