Are P2p Filesharers Blocked In Los?

Hi I used to use Limewire and Acquisition to get some of my favourites. They stopped working some time ago.

Are they blocked in LOS?

Not blocked but may be packet shaped by your ISP.

Try different ports from the defaults.

BTW, discussion of file sharing is not permitted by the forum rules so I expect this thread will be closed soon :o

I could not find, where they tell that discussion about file sharing is not permitted, neither a find any reason why it should be banned. File sharing is legal, many Linux Distributionen are based on bittorrent, some legal online video-recorder are based on that. a hugh amount on free books, shareware software and music is available with file sharing.

if you ban discussions about file sharing, you also must ban discussions about cars, because some thief use it to escape....

Often it there is a mix between downloading pirated software/file sharing of pirated software (or movies/music) and normal filesharing of legal things.....

Filesharing is legal

Would you care to point me in the right direction about these ports and defaults.

I've been to Limewire prefs and don't see anything relevant.

Thanx v much.

(Macbook, OSX 10.4.6.)

Filesharing is legal

Discussing what you're discussing is (often) not allowed (sometimes). Legality doesn't mater, ''it's in the rules''.

Er ... except in the Linux forum.

Or if you've made over a certain number of posts.

Or if the wind is blowing from the North.

Or if your name starts with the letter ...

You'll see.

Or not.

(Edited in: Just seen your number of posts. I reckon you'll be OK.)

It's all down to interpretation of this rule :-

10) Please do not post links to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, file sharing, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting donations.

We usually seem to be ok as long as no actual links (or references to websites) get posted.

The long running thread regarding a particular local hub was closed when this rule was amended, back end of last year some time IIRC.

EDIT I now expect to get hit for discussing moderation issues :o

To our OP, unfortunately I don't use Limewire (or a Mac) so I can't be a lot of help with the port settings :D Anyone else???

maybe I win the price for the most stupid question ever, but where is a link to the rules where I can find that file sharing discussion is not allowed?

I was told it was because of ''1) You will not use thaivisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, referencing suicide, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law'', but that was before the ammendment.

I can't tell you who told me, under what circumstances, or explain how the two are connected, otherwise I'll be in breach of ''5) Discussion of moderation issues, actions or moderation policies concerning individual cases are not allowed in the forums. Such comments should be directed to a moderator or administrator, and not discussed on the forum'', just like you :o

I think if they followed ''13) English language is the only acceptable language on thaivisa.com, except of course in the Thai Language Forum where Thai is encouraged'' when writing the rules they (the rules) wouldn't be so ambivalent and open to such wide interpretation by [DELETED FOR FEAR OF BREAKING RULE 5].

Not a stupid question, 'tis well hidden right at the top of the page, left hand side under the Thaivisa logo, dark blue on light blue (really visible), small text 'Forum Rules' (it's a link).

As far as I know there is no encryption feature for Limewire...

Perhaps F is referring to settings in Bit Torrent clients, like uTorrent. Highly recommended... Limewire is usually only good for music.

Give DC++ (client for the Direct Connect network) a try.

Thankyou but i'm still at a loss.

I use Maxnet in Chiangmai. It seems AT & T will not supply anything else now, trying to monpolise the market. The service has been appalling lately, unusable unless you are willing to wait 5 minutes every time you download a next page. I'm cancelling next week.

Anyway if u need another reason to avoid Maxnet I have heard they are blocking Limewire and maybe others.

hi'

simple as 1+1=2

low banwidth, can't expand coz of infrastruture and price, so let's put some censorship on some site which suck bandwidth like p2p or ban some sexy sites, it's a lot easier than to rebuild the entire network ...

banning sexy site is just a show off! as usual!

even here, some are afraid to talk about!

no one give any address or link, everybody feel scared the the thread is going to be closed, let's be more cool, mods here aren't cyber cop!
