Could either of the people in the picture that goes with this story actually legally buy a house here?

Exactamento! That Ad banner would probably fly, more appropriately, if the woman were Thai, instead of western. The Farang could buy the house, in the Thai woman's name, with a "registered" 30-year lease, on both the house, and the property.

Regarding the other issue of the banner being an insult to women, get realwhistling.gif A deal like that, for the average Thai woman, would be the opportunity of a lifetime, assuming that she could "see" past the tip of her nosewai2.gif

I think that it should read "get an Issan bar bride and give her a free house"coffee1.gif ...

Preferably in Isan where her family can move in or least be close to so they are nearer your ATM card.

Where they lovingly treat you like a mushroom, by keeping you in the dark and feeding you lots of bullshit!wai.gif

Funny most of the posters UI have read from Isaan talk about how nice it is there. To each his own.

Could be you a foreign couple buy the house and the developer gives you a 30 year lease.

Is that legal? What happens after 30 years?

Feminism has landed. Now Thailand really is doomed.

Yes, the quest by one half of the population for equality to the other half ruins all our fun... it's totally unfair.

And why is one of them 15 feet tall? Is the house next to a nuclear power station?

That's either a poorly done piece of photoshopping or that woman has a bad case of microencephaly (small head)...

No, I think she's just got a really big a r s e.

This is so funny,i wonder how many lonely men went to buy a new home and asked where is my new wife hahahaha cheesy.gifwai2.gif

Yea most of the woman on offer would be just like a Typhoon . Wet and wild on arrival, and when she leaves, takes the house and car with her

Brilliant and right on spot, Bluespunk !! (as often) clap2.gif.pagespeed.ce.z5euFoXm0J.gif

Of course, we Westerners are so use to politically correct advertising by now that we don't even realize how things have changed, but a quick look over some Euro, US or Aussie ads a few decades ago will leave most of us gaping in wonder. Nothing was left out : racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, you name it they did it !!

This reminds us how, in many ways, when we come to countries like LOS, we're taking a trip not only in space but also in time... yes there are 8 track motorways, smartphones all over the place and skyscrapers (albeit not always finished), but the mindframe is a whole other issue...

He should have just changed it to Wifi

i actually thought that this was going to be a humourous story about a campaign had suffered a typo on its advertising.

I was wrong.

This couple do not look like Thai nationals therefore they wont be smiling when the Thai owner of the land decides one day at his option to clear the land for a new more profitable venture.

If Welshmen didn't sh-g sheep there'd be no Englishmen!

Correct, I like the ones that are ready for the market,as they always have an attractive earring, but this is personal taste

They need better spin doctors.

They should have said it was supposed to be 'free wifi' and that someone misspelled it and it was never double checked.

This would be believable.biggrin.png

the idea was that the house was cheaper than others of similar type and, with the savings, you could afford to get married.

So they might as well have said "get free 1000 ya ba pills" or "get free 100 sessions of high class erotic massage". Not everyone wants a wife.
