I was under the impression that living off the grid meant the "electricity grid," So if you power your computer through renewable means, you can still be connected to the world and still be "off the grid." Perhaps, some might also argue that to be truly off the grid you must be a vegetarian and have a composting toilet There are enormous electrical requirements to power and cool down a server farm to which one would link living off-the-grid.
