Any advice?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Myself and my boyfriend spent two months travelling through Thailand over the summer and fell in love with the country. I'm an NQT with a job as a Music teacher ( and a BA(Hons) in Secondary Education with Music) in the UK at the moment, and I start my Masters in Educational Practice this January which will last for three years. Im just wondering how easy/hard it would be to get a job teaching in one of the international schools in Thailand - preferably in Bangkok? And how long would the application/visa take?

Any advice would be appreciated biggrin.png

The better quality and paid schools will require 3-5 years home country experience. After you finish your masters and work a few years, you would be good to go at any International school. Visas in Thailand are quite easy and straightforward to get when you are hired.

The issue would be availability for music teachers though. You might get a job teaching something else but holding out for music teaching positions could take a while and you definitely might have to be more flexible on location. But as with anything, you could luck out and have a position open up the day you are looking.

By the time you complete your Masters you will already have 3-4 years experience in any event as you're currently working as an NQT.

A few of the very good schools here offer music, dance etc so its just a question of how good you are and how much they want you.

Below is a link that will give you some indicators as to the value they place on activities such as:-
