As I see it, the DNA samples should be taken from the accused and sent to the same Singapore lab where the crime scene samples were tested. When I had my DNA tested for ancestry and medical data, I had to provide a test-tube amount of saliva which was sent by courier to the US. Such an amount of material could not be faked/contaminated to match the crime scene samples. The Singapore lab would extract the suspects' DNA from this 'large' sample and match it against the data they already have in their system. If a match comes back, there would have been no way to fake it (unless the RTP had these particular individuals in their sights at the very start of the investigation). Some random guy that joined in July and claims inside information.

Not sure who you are referring to but anyway just a small point. A poster who joined earlier this year,last last year or yesterday are posters considered equal am I right ? If someone is a Newbie I don't believe that they should be any less credible that someone who joined yesterday or last year.

This investigative process on thaivisa I believe has contributed a great deal to the pressure and the credibility of the investigation. Many people of various backgrounds nationalities and countries have something to offer if they indeed DO have something to offer. Bullying the new kid is not cool. Which by the way i still cannot see who you mean as I scroll through looking for a newbie..... We are all equal and I for one feel proud of the work that everyone has done. I never thought I would admit to that in regards to tv.

Beautiful revelation. We all knew they were innocent as the day is long. The entire world knows who the guilty party is. Since he, and his family are above the law, and even the Army does not to rock the boat on any significant level, they were framed. Firstly my information is hardly any case cracking or case diverting information mate. I shouldn't think.

As pornthip has already validated this anyway.

Secondly if people wish to come on here and deliberately divert the course of injustice I am not one to advise on that sorry. I would suggest sadly they have nothing better to do. Ill allow you to do advise on that though as it's no concern of mine. After 7 years here and having a partner who was sexually assaulted here many years ago, if I believe that we have contributed to debate and public discussion on this topic in a real and meaningful way then I shall continue to think that and will attempt to positively contribute to that, wherever I can.

I was a member of tv when I first arrived here in thailand and found it full of filthy condescending comments that I found so full and boring that I only lasted a year. This time around and perhaps the people using this are more varied culturally and professionally it allows for broader discussion.

If you feel that my earlier comment was an attempt to throw the case off or work my way in in some way that good sir is your choice. I could never have guessed this piece of information I had received would be considered so valuable. But there you go - you just never know how valuable a piece of joe publics info can potentially be !

Exactly what my Thai friends are telling me. That's the sad thing about this in that NO government official has come forward to do the right thing. The whole chain of command is involved in protecting people that can only be called monsters.

Definitely the crack down on mafia is limited and highly selective. The Patong mafia obviously peed off someone in the NCPO big time and some Thaksinite mafia involved in illegal logging in the North and running gambling dens in the central region have had problems but most of the mafias are left alone, specially in the South where most have ties with the Suthep/ Prawit crowd. The shake up of the police is limited to booting out Thaksinites and replacing them with anti-Thaksinites. They seem very concerned to keep the police on side. Cracking down on mafia gangs would break the iron rice bowl of corrupt police who facilitate their illegal businesses and can't and won't be done. Military are also entwined with many of them too, so they risk losing support in their own ranks. Corrupt police in the South rallied round to protect their own in Koh Tao but made a huge mess of things due to incompetence and have dragged their national commanders and the government down into the hole with them. Just how they are going to get out of it is an interesting puzzle but I believe the NCPO is stunned by the visceral reaction of Thais on social media. Correct. The army knew from the beginning. There is a concerted effort being made to NOT UPSET the status quo, despite all the PR, and appearances to the contrary. Go after the little guys. But, do not touch the big fish. And that directive goes up to the highest levels. It is apparent in everything they are doing. We know who did this. We have footage of the creep following the victims out to the beach, after an argument at the bar. He refuses DNA. We understand, and acknowledge who did this, but his family is above the law. Leave him alone. Find somebody else to blame this on, preferable not a Thai. I consider any belief to the contrary to be naive.

Exactly what my Thai friends are telling me. That's the sad thing about this in that NO government official has come forward to do the right thing. The whole chain of command is involved in protecting people that can only be called monsters.

My Thai friends are in this line of thinking as well. Many of which have now also joined tv and are contributing to discussions which I feel is great for the forum. In my opinion providing insight that we may not have otherwise received.

Rumors, particularly those that claim to be fact do more harm than good.

Pointing out that the claims of random anonymous posters to having "inside information" are indeed just rumors does have value in discussions such as this.

Feel free to look through the vast number of posts and see how many claims of "fact" are simply opinions.

Beautiful revelation. We all knew they were innocent as the day is long. The entire world knows who the guilty party is. Since he, and his family are above the law, and even the Army does not to rock the boat on any significant level, they were framed. Now, they realize that the confessions that were beaten out of them are going to lead to them being crucified, and they have recanted. Good on them. Lets see where this all leads. I am afraid regardless of their confession, or the recantment, it will not lead to the guilty party being arrested, as this case has proven some people are above the law.

I doubt the Army 'knew' what happened and were complicit - more likely they were given false information from day one. There is no way they would protect these low-life rats, if they had evidence of a cover-up.

My only hope is that after so nearly being exposed, the real murderous, raping animals will hesitate before taking advantage of innocents again - but I doubt that somehow. It probably only serves to reinforce their grand delusions of being 'special' and above the law - truly untouchable.

There will now most likely be a concerted damage control exercise and the cover-up will be covered up.

They did know and felt the final "reward" for the coppers speech would announce the swift end to the whole affair.

I for one, would like as many open minded Thais as possible on this forum. That is a totally positive development. This is their country, and many of us would love to know how they are feeling about these kinds of issues.
