How many days needed on visa/wp to renew

Hi. I have a new teacher starting at my school on 27th Oct and he advises me that his wp and Visa expire on the 31st! My school closes today if i prepare all the necessary paperwork for him to go to labour office and immigration on the 27th or 28th is this enough time to get everything renewed. I have something in my mind that tells me you should have at least 10 days left on your visa when applying for a new wp but perhaps this has changed.

Not need for at least 10 days left. But he needs to hurry with his WP and extension. If he is in Thailand based on his job, his permission to stay ends when he quits his job.

New rules make it a little bit more easier to change schools.
