Nom yen daeng recipe please!

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I'm working here in Jerusalem and walked into a small Asian store...I about dropped my teeth on finding a nice big red bottle of Blue Boy red syrup. My kids loved nom yen daengs when we lived in BKK, but now the exact mix of water, condensed milk, syrup is escaping me. Can anyone assist with the right ratios for me.

Thanks!

I think you mean nam waan sii daeng.

The frozen version (nam keng), which would probably do

It is a cone of shaved ice, with the Thai drink syrup known as 'Hales Blue Boy' (Helbruboy) poured over it and dressed with condensed milk. The taste is sweet and creamy, like an ice cream version of cream soda.

Nom yen is what I've always heard it...I just noted daeng as not to confuse with the minty green...anyway, looks like I'll be doing some experimenting. :)
