Going on university campus

Featured Replies

Here's an odd question: Is it okay for foreigners to go on university campuses in Bangkok? Just to hang out or look around? Is there a dress code?

I left my girlfriend last week, she was a 2nd year university student. Met her working part-time during the holidays.

I've been thinking and I realized I enjoyed dating someone studying at uni.

Not for any perverted reasons - I am mid 20's and a postgrad student myself.

But because it was nice to date someone who maintained a life outside of me. She had friends, activities, and kept very busy. It kept things interesting and fun (for 6 months until her mom moved her away).

Almost EVERY other girl i've met in Bangkok - mid 20's and older - falls in love after a month, and it feels like im the only interesting thing happening in their life, with no ambition or future. No offence intended to anyone's partners, that's just my small experience.

Anyway I'm getting side-tracked... is it okay for normal dressed foreigners to walk around uni campus? Not just for socialising... I was thinking of enrolling in a university Thai course anyway.

Campus food halls are open to everyone.

As is membership of the swimming pools and other sporting facilities.

Yes very odd. I don't think your nationality matters.

What may matter more might be your perceived age, especially if you want to "hang out" there.

If you're a potential student or the likes yes why not visit a campus. Students have a specific dress code and visitors may want to look neat regardless which faculty department they want to visit.
