Bangkok to host World Puppet Carnival on Nov 1-10

BANGKOK, 16 October 2014 (NNT) -- Bangkok will host the World Puppet Carnival from 1 to 10 November 2014, with puppet teams from more than 80 countries strutting their stuff for the audience.

According to the Culture Ministry Permanent Secretary, Apinan Posayanonda, the ten-day carnival will be held under the theme of “Harmony World Puppet Carnival in Bangkok Thailand 2014”. He said it is a golden chance for traditional Thai and modern puppeteers to present the beauty of Thai puppet art to the world. Meanwhile, visitors can also enjoy magnificent shows of 125 other puppet troupes from 80 countries.

The great event will be held on the Rattanakosin Island. Contemporary puppet theaters will be set up in various places, including Sanam Luang, the National Theatre, Wangna Theater, the National Gallery Bangkok, Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center, and the Bangkok National Museum.

A puppet exhibition will also be held at the Bangkok National Museum in honor of His Majesty the King on the occasion of His Majesty’s 87 birthday anniversary.
