October 18, 201411 yr The trade name is Gas Fuse http://gasfuse.com/ not something I've seen here. If you can't find one and you're worried turn off the bottle when not in use, use your nose when in use. Do note that it only detects MAJOR leaks (like the tube becoming disconnected). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
October 18, 201411 yr Millions of gas users within thailand and your concerned about leaks and not concerned with being runover by a motorbike taxi, gas is heavier than air so if concerned cook from upstairs lol.
October 19, 201411 yr Always shut the valve of the gas bottle when not in use. Fortunately this is "in the genes" in my famliy. Even the grandaughter who always forgets to switch off the lights has never left the valve open. The usual gas cookers here have no safety valve that shuts the flow when the gas is not burning (no heat), So such an accessory for the bottle is of limited value. An essential accessory is a "low pressure regulator" as interface between bottle and gas cooker. Some seem to have a security shut off for big leaks as described and a pressure meter to see the filling level. Such equipment is available at many places in the district or major towns. A typical example from a Thai online market: http://soonthorngas.tarad.com/product-th-0-4358222-%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%9A%E0%B9%81%E0%B8%81%E0%B9%8A%E0%B8%AA%E0%B9%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%95%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%B3+%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B0%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%9A%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%8B%E0%B8%9F%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B5%E0%B9%89,%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B1%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%87%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B2,%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%88%E0%B9%8C%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%94%E0%B9%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%99+MERICA+%28Safety%29.html Edited October 19, 201411 yr by KhunBENQ
October 19, 201411 yr You can get them anywhere where they sell the gas bottles. Maybe not at the very small shops, definitively in the bigger ones for about 150 THB.
October 19, 201411 yr A spray bottle with soapy water water, spray around fittings, if bubbles seen you know you have a leak. Cooking outside shouldn't be a problem. When we change tanks I usually give it a check.
