Why no traffic wardens?

Featured Replies

The Thai police seem to be too busy for catching and punishing traffic offenders... particularly bad parking. Perhaps they should follow the UK and set up Traffic Wardens who have the power to fine and even call for towing or clamping of offenders.

It would open employment and reduce the duties of the Police at the same time.

That would never fly here in a million years.....They wouldn't want anyone else dipping their fingers into the BIB's pie.

Besides that they would get battered to death frequently. I don't believe the Government could afford the health insurance plan.

I left Traffic Warden Land a long time ago. Do you miss them?

Yes we could have speed cameras as well ,and perhaps a few plastic police just like in the UK parking fines ,private clamping companys , oh and lots of cameras all over every street you walk down ,then dog wardens and a million other rules and regs .Hang on ,i could just go back home .bah.gif

Wrong, wrong, wrong....no traffic wardens required.

Thailand needs meter maids like on the Gold Coast...great for tourism.

I have often wondered why traffic laws are not enforced in Thailand.

Obviously, it would save lives.

It should also be obvious that the Thai governments, national and local are missing a great source of revenue.

The money gained with fines for speeding, parking in the road, unsafe passing, driving on the wrong side of the road, drunk driving and many more unsafe driving practices would more than pay for enforcement costs.

I have heard it happens, but in my years in Thailand, I have never seen an unsafe driver pulled over by law enforcement.

You do see check points, but they do nothing to stop moving violations of traffic laws.

Local governments could raise huge amounts of money while making life safer for all.

Why not?
