With a mask probably this weekend.

I have no bias here but he deserved his red.

See Toby Alderweireld's agent is stirring for a better new deal for him or for a move. He's only on 50k so you can see why he's not happy when he sees the deal say Walker has moved for. Etihad bound?

A few observations here.

Alderweireld would improve your team far more than Walker so unlikely we would be keen to sell to you.

He'll be 29 next summer so no resale value for a buying club.

His current contract runs until 2020.

Personally I would like to see him sign a new deal at Tottenham as he is a fantastic defender....we shall see!

How long do you think Spurs can carry on paying players so little (in comparison to other clubs) Ronnie? They will obviously know the huge increase in revenue that all the clubs in the Prem get and they will surely want a slice of it.

When the books will balance the wages will rise at the Lane.

Difficult one for me really mrboj as imho ticket prices and wages should be dropping rather than rising.

In terms of keeping our best players it had better be soon though!

ESPN is reporting he has a contract till 2019 with AN OPTION of one more year till 2020.

The option to extend is Tottenham's with the caveat of a 25m quid release clause.

So to recap...we keep him until he is 31 on the current deal and then sell him to you for 25m.

Not bad business.

Just to add...when you look at the situation from the club's perspective there is no way he is going to get 150k a week.

There might be shuffle room for a new deal but I can't see a value beyond 70-80k given his age.

Can we have him for 50m?

What he would immediately do is improve those playing around him.  Vertonghen is nowhere near as good with Toby.  He also had to constantly cover up for Walkers poor positional play which is something the City center back is going to find out.

However,  whilst the media is so desperate to make something of it, and ofcourse Pep singing his praises hasn't helped, i very much doubt he'll be going anywhere soon.  Why....

Pochettino has long been desperate it appears to play three at the back, thus using wing backs to pull opponents wide that creates the space for Eriksen and Dembele to create.  Alderweirald is pivotal to this set up having the pace and movement needed along with Sanchez and Vertonghen.

Secondly Carter-Vickers is simply not ready yet and has been loaned out, be it with an option of a january recall.  Juan Foyth was relentlessly pursued for his potential but again by all accounts he has much to learn and was taken on board as very much one for the future.  Wimmer's gone.  Letting Toby go would directly compromise the way we want to play and the way we play best.

However, its just inconceivable to thing that the club doesn't understand the need to up his wages and i believe he should have parity with Kane and Lloris.  And atleast he hasn't gone spilling his guts to some scumbag tabloid rag.  Talk of Spurs holding him to his current salary is too ridiculous to even debate.

So in summary, at this juncture its highly unlikely he'll be going anywhere, just earning a lot more money with Spurs probably thanking their lucky stars they managed to sign Sanchez who i think is an absolute gem.  Its unlikely we'll keep Toby in the long term but whats important is his departure being at the right time for us also and preferably not to a rival.  I didn't care who we sold Walker to but Toby is a very different prospect.  Walker is a speed merchant with poor positional play who can't cross the ball,  Toby is world class.  More Barcelona i'd have thought.

Alderweireld will either get a major improvement on his contract terms from Spurs OR he'll be away to a suitor. If you were him would you stay on 50k when others are getting significantly more...think we all know the answer.

Stop getting so excited BB, he's not going to you or anyone else, of course Spurs are going to increase his wages and if they didn't he won't be going anywhere soon as has  2+1 year left on his contract.

Yeah. Albeit I wasn't serious, it would be an interesting idea/debate to hold a player accountable for injuring another.

Interesting that Liverpool are appealing the length of Manes ban as excessive punishment but don't seem to be actually appealing the red card itself.

Liverpool lost their appeal. So it's now official.

How good was that 1st half display? Best under Pep? Emphatic victory last night, couldn't fault a player. Again very impressed with Jesus and kdb.

Yeah BB. Extremely happy with that performance. Bit lucky for the first goal but they all count.

"Aguero has scored 18 goals in his last 22 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City."

A nice quote from Jamie Redknapp on KdB and one I think most people would find hard to argue with. The lad is top class.

Quote

'Imagine you could start a Premier League team from scratch and sign any player,' Redknapp wrote in his column for Sportsmail this week. 'Kevin De Bruyne would be my first pick — Pep Guardiola is turning him into the complete midfield player.'

Just listening to RadMac interviewing Chris Difford of Squeeze who turns out also to be A BLUE! Love Squeeze.

In the great 60s/70s Bell Lee Summerbee side the unsung hero was Alan Oakes - who? some of you are thinking (he holds City's most appearances record). In the recent two Premier winning sides the unsung player who held us together and gave Yaya licence to roam was Garry Barry. I always felt we released him a season too early. Excellent service to City and every club he's played for.

"Gareth Barry will equal the Premier League appearance record held by Ryan Giggs on Saturday should he feature for West Bromwich Albion against West Ham at The Hawthorns. His 632nd top-flight appearance comes 19 years after his debut for Aston Villa at Sheffield Wednesday and follows 365 Premier League games for the Midlands club, 132 games for Manchester City, 131 for Everton and three so far for his new club."

Interestingly, Barry has had more yellow cards than anyone else in the history of the premier league.
