Uk Visitor Visa For Thai Gf

Featured Replies

Guys

I've posted messages about this in the past but its getting close to the application time and I'm a littel concerned now. I have a few question..

1. GFi s a bar girl for 18months but is hoping to leave in the next week or so and go back to her parents in Kampaengpetch where she hopes to find a job and start building (with my help) on a plot of land that her family have put aside for her on her farm.

My question is.. I would have thought being a bargirl may cause problems for the visa application but at least it was a stable job for 18months. If she gives up (which I'm happy about ) but then has no job or finds a job that she's only had for a few weeks by the tie we do the application then how is that going to look?

2. The relationship between us is a genuin one (15mths) and I've been over several times to see her, have spent time with her parents and children. However, she is still married but separated. She has been separated for just under 2 years.

Will the fact she is still married going to cause us any problems on the visa application? She plans on dovorcing him.. we are hoping to get married once sorted out.

3. I make about £40K per year and have my own property. I'm in a stable job. We plan to marry and in a few years buy a property in Thailand but will still stay in UK for most of the time.

What else can I do to show the relationship is genuine and show that we would not want to break the visa rules by her overstaying her visa. Its important the she returns because we want to be able to pass freely back and forward in the future.

Any help greatly accepted.

Cheers

Tariq,

There's no reason, per se, why a bargirl should not get a visit visa.

The immigration rules state that the applicant has to satisfy the visa officer that they intend to leave the UK at the end of their stay. That the applicant is/was a bargirl is going to be of concern to the visa officer as it doesn't give her much of an incentive to return to Thailand. However, this can be outweighed by the length of your relationship and your future intentions.

Your g/f should therefore support her application with evidence of your relationship dating back to its inception; including e-mails, phone bills, photos, greetings cards etc. That your g/f is still married is largely irrelevant to a vist visa application, but, certainly, provide a covering letter which details what you have written on the forum. You will also need to demonstrate that you can maintain and accommodate your g/f during her stay.

Scouse.

Cheers Scouse..much appreciated.

Final question.. is it importanty that she states she is married even when separated?

Yes, it is vital that she tells the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Your case is one where there is no reason to return. This has been dealt with in other recent threads and is not insurmountable, but in your case i think the fact that she is a current b/g and the fact she is still currently married may not be big problems but they are 2 more things you could do without and they certainly won't help you. So you have a case of no reason to return PLUS 2 extra problems .

On the plus side you have good finances and accomodation.

Still i think its going to be an uphill struggle and will depend largely on which ECO you get on the day , as so many marginal cases do . This is totally wrong but that is the system we have. I wish you luck and do please post the result here. Only by people posting their results , especially in marginal cases like this one , can we see how the ECO's are interpreting the guidelines.

Thanks for your replies guys..

Hmmm.. ain't gonna be easy is it?

Well.. she's just about to leave the bar scene in the next few days and go back home to Kampaengpetch so by the time we apply for the visa she'll be out of work and under my suuport. From what I've understood, being out of work or being a bar-girl isn't going to make much difference to her application and it seems my letter of sponsorship, its content and the documentation we can provide to prove the relationship is genuine and has been in existence for a while is going to be what swings it... that and the mood of whoever the ECO is on the day.

No doubt over the next few weeks as the time draws near I'l lbe postrng some more messages as I start panicing about questions on the application form... I apologise in advance!!!

Cheers
